Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a three-car crash on State Route 20 near North Dewey Beach Road around 6:28 p.m. on April 6th, 2017.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 52-year old John Davis of Oak Harbor was traveling Northbound on State Route 20 in a Silver 2001 PT Cruiser when he crossed the center line and struck a silver 2007 Kia Amanti being driven by 63-year old Lawrence Macarthur of Oak Harbor.
The force of the collision pushed the vehicles into the Southbound Ditch where they came to rest. A third vehicle, a silver 2005 Hyundia Elantra, being driven by 33-year old Qiana Johnson of Oak Harbor struck debris from the original crash.
John Davis, the driver of the PT Cruiser and a passenger 18-year old Brady Miller of Oak Harbor were both airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. 40-year old Jody Hayes of Longview and 31-year old Brenda Cook of Coupeville, both passengers in the PT Cruiser were injured and transported by medics to Island County Hospital for treatment.
13-year old Rachel Macarthur, 19-year old Brandon Macarthur and 22-year old Joshua Macarthur, all passengers in the Kia Amanti were not injured in the crash.
The driver of the third vehicle, was not injured and her vehicle was driven from the scene with minor damage.
The PT Cruiser and the Kia Amanti were both totaled and impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen in Burlington.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation but a family friend of the causing driver told Skagitbreaking.com that the driver suffered a diabetic medical emergency prior to the crash. Everyone involved was reported to be wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Charges against the causing driver are under investigation by Troopers.
