Mount Vernon, WA – The Mount Vernon Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 1400 block of North 30th Street in Mount Vernon around 6:22 pm on March 18th, 2017.
According to a press release from Lieutenant Greg Booth, after Mount Vernon Officers arrived, they determined no one had been injured in the shooting.
Officers were able to contact numerous witnesses who assisted in identifying possible suspects and identifying a vehicle that was used to transport the suspects to and from the shooting scene.
The vehicle was quickly located by Officers but it was parked and unoccupied at the time. The vehicle was later impounded as part of the ongoing shooting investigation.
As the Investigation continued, Officers served a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of South Laventure Road. Based on Evidence collected, Officer have identified three persons of Interest, including two adults and one 17-year old juvenile from Mount Vernon.
Investigators had not determined a motive for the shooting, but say the incident was an isolated incident and not a random shooting.
On March 21st, 2017, Mount Vernon Officers located and arrested a 17-year old Male at a trailer in the 1400 block of North 30th Street, the same area where the shooting occurred. The teen male was booked into the Skagit County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with “Drive-by Shooting.” (RCW 9A.36.045)
Based on information obtained by Officers During the investigation they are actively looking for two remaining adult suspects.
