Good Samaritan Struck and Killed While Assisting at Crash On SR530

Arlington, WA – The Washington State Patrol Responded to a vehicle verses pedestrian crash on East State Route 530 at Arnott Road, 3 miles East of Arlington around 5:21 pm on November 12th, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 46-year old Trina Morgan of Darrington had stopped her green 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage  along  East State Route 530 at Arnot Road to assist another motorist who had been in a separate collision on Westbound SR530.

Kiro 7 News Reporter Joanna Small reported on her Facebook Page that the previous crash had been the result of a driver driving under the influence who hit a guardrail. She posted the photo below of the incident.

As the good Samaritan,   Trina Morgan was removing a 9-year old Child from the back of the previously crashed vehicle  she was struck  by a 2006 Hyundai Sonata being driven by 21-year old Tracy Tamez of Darrington.  The force of the impact threw her into  her own vehicle and she died at the scene.  The press memo states Mr. Tamez was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

Next of Kin was notified by the San Juan Island County Sheriff’s Office. Both Vehicles were totaled and impounded by North County Towing.

The Cause of the crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
