Skagit County, WA – If you’ve ever lost track of your fire inspection paperwork, Skagit County has good news for you: Inspections are going digital, thanks to the cloud-based Tegris Fire Inspection service.
“We do regular fire inspections of all Skagit County businesses – and right now, our inspection records are on hardcopy forms, in paper files and on spreadsheets,” said Jack Moore, Skagit County Building Official. “Moving these records online makes it simpler for both the County and business owners to keep track of their current inspection status or needed repairs.”
Annual inspections are currently performed on Skagit County businesses to ensure all fire safety equipment meets county code. Maintaining good fire inspection records provides for discounted fire insurance premiums. The new Tegris system allows contracted fire inspectors to post the inspection results online, so both the County and business owner will have immediate access.
Business owners aren’t required to create a Tegris account, but if they choose to, the free service allows instant access to their property information and contact information for local service providers. The system also provides automated inspection reminders and a simple, online way to reach out to the Fire Marshal or private inspectors.
The County is switching to the new system as of Jan. 1, 2017, and any inspections conducted after that time will be posted online. Locally, Mount Vernon, Burlington, Anacortes and Sedro-Woolley already use the Tegris system
