Burlington, Washington– The Burlington Police Department responded to a burglary in progress around 7pm on August 10th, 2016 in the 200 block of Andis Road.
According to a probable cause affidavit of arrest obtained by SkagitBreaking.com through a public records request a homeowner returned home to find 40-year old Eric Lawson of Everett inside his home putting valuables into bags.
Mr. Lawson produced a knife and said something to the affect of “I just got out, I’m not going back, I will F***** kill you.” The homeowner then fled out of the front of his house and yelled for help from his neighbors as Mr. Lawson locked him out of the house.
Mr. Lawson then attempted to flee out the back of the residence but was confronted by neighbors who detained him until Law Enforcement arrived.
Officers investigated and found that Mr. Lawson had bagged up several items of value. Mr. Lawson did not live at the residence and he did not know the homeowner and walked past several no trespassing signs before entering the residence.
Mr. Lawson Admitted to breaking into the home with the intent to take property. He denied threatening anybody with a knife.
Mr. Lawson was booked into the Skagit County Jail for investigation of Burglary 1st. He is currently being held in Lieu of $150,000 bail.
