Mount Vernon, Washington– A Mount Vernon man is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail on Rape of a Child in the 1st degree as well as multiple drug (VUCSA) charges.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police Department were notified of a sex offense on January 31st, 2016 that occurred at a residence on Little Mountain Drive two days prior.
A woman told detectives that she had visited her ex-boyfriend and left her two children, ages 6 and 10 year old at his house around 4:45 pm. When she returned at around 7:30 pm she noticed both kids were sitting on the mans lap in his hot tub, looking at his cell phone. The mother thought this was strange.
Her children later told her that the man had inappropriately touched them on several previous occasions in the hot tub. The woman contacted police, who investigated.
After police interviewed the girls and obtained probable cause to arrest the man, the woman refused to cooperate with police and told them that she was “madly in love with the man” and she didn’t want to press charges. She also told Detectives that people have sex with 10 year old girls in other countries and would not speak with Officers further.
Detectives served a search warrant on the mans residence and recovered several pieces of evidence. The man was not at the residence during the search warrant and the woman’s ex husband told police that she had dropped her children off with him and she had possibly fled with the man accused of raping her children.
The man was found and arrested and is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail. The status of the children’s mother is unknown.
Skagit Breaking is not naming the man to protect the identity of the young victims.
